Next stop: Akumal, Mexico!

Back to the caribbean for a little fun in the sun! And were hoping to try some new adventures. Jammie and Tammie are going to try SCUBA for the first time. And Louie and I might go deep sea fishing while they are out diving. Nothing is really completely settled yet, but our adventure wheels have been set in motion. We're trying to set something up at the Akumal Dive Shop. If you want to see the beach there is a webcam. I can't wait!

Last night.

It's been a great trip. On more day at the beach until we need to catch our flight home. We're looking forward to seeing Harry and Renata. I think they would have had a great time at this resort.

Sunrise

Breakfast

I'm not quite sure what kind of fruit this is but smells wonderful. Jammie says it tastes a little sour. It looks too slimy for me to try. One day down, sun is like Buster Poindexter... HOT, HOT, HOT.  We need to do a better job with the sunscreen today. Back to the beach.

Riu Bambu

First drink! The resort is beautiful. We truly wish you were here! We walked on the beach and had dinner. Tomorrow is fun in the sun!

Fueled up, ready to go!

Starting our travels off right!

Waiting at O'Hare for our flight to Punta Cana. It is 39° and dreary here in the windy city. A little Frontera Tortas to warm us up before we leave. High today in Punta Cana is 86°! Our Apple Vacations 5 Apple Square Deal has us staying at the Riu Bambu so we're happy. Next post from the tropics.

Ugh. Flight is 20 minutes late because of foggy conditions here. We've been walking around the airport to kill time. I love what they sell in airport gift shops! I saw the best Chicago Cubs t-shirt! I can't think of a better pop culture icon/character to associate with the Chicago Cubs than Charlie Brown. Good Grief!

Next stop Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

In a couple of weeks (who am I kidding, in 17 days... Yes, of course I'm counting them down) we'll be heading to Punta Cana for the first time. For a travel research junkie like me this has been a little challenging. We booked with Apple Vacations on their 5 Apple Square Deal so we don't know exactly where we will be staying until we check in at the airport. I'm not even exactly sure how that works. Do we check in with Apple or with the airline or both? Anyway, I've been obsessed with trying to figure out where we'll end up. I'm not as crazy as some people I've found on TripAdvisor.com but if I had to place a bet I'd guess we'll be at the Riu Bambu. Seems many people on this deal end up there and if we do I'll be quite happy.

We started the process of packing yesterday which is always fun. Watching my wife try on swimsuits... I can't complain. I ordered sunscreen from Amazon.com. I'm trying to figure out the baggage policy on Frontier Airlines but I think we're going to have to pay to check our bag. Ugh. But on the other hand if we use the airport parking arranged by Apple Vacations we'll save about as much as we'll be spending to check our luggage so I guess it's a wash. But I really do like the regular parking at O'Hare.

Is it sixteen days yet....
