Progressive Majority Endorsement

On Friday I was informed by Progressive Majority that I received their endorsement in my run for Alderman. I am happy to receive the endorsement of a national group that has been instrumental in advancing the ideals of progressive politics. I look forward to adding additional endorsements to my campaign resume in the near future. Stay posted.

On the Ballot - I need your support!

Today I submitted the required nomination signatures to appear on the ballot this spring as a candidate for Alderman in the 15th district of Kenosha. I am writing to ask for your support both financially and at the polls this coming spring. This April Kenosha will begin a new era, electing a new Mayor; we also need new ideas and faces on the City Council. I ask for your vote this spring.

I am running for Alderman in order to bring a progressive voice to the City Council. I also bring an open ear, to hear your concerns and represent your needs. Walking the district collecting signatures and talking with friends and neighbors, I consistently hear that people in the 15th district want an Alderman who is accessible to them. They want someone in office who can help resolve their problems with the city, answer questions about issues, and be accountable to their needs. This is my promise to you. When you call, I will return your call. When you email me with your concerns, I will reply in a timely manner. When you need to talk, I will listen. As a former technical support specialist for Microsoft and other technology companies and now as a teacher at Tremper High School I have worked with a variety of people, addressing their needs and finding solutions to their challenges. As a member of the City Council I will bring my ability to listen, problem-solve, and communicate to local government.

I believe Kenosha is a great place to raise a family, enjoy life and run a business. Kenosha is a different city today than when I was growing up here in the 1970s. We have transformed from a factory town to a diversified economy. We have been a model for the country in cleaning up former industrial sites and redeveloping them into productive neighborhoods. However, there is more to be done. We need to further protect our environment, particularly our lakefront and water resources. We need to better maintain our infrastructure, like roads and parks. And we need to cost-effectively support public safety provided by the Police and Fire Departments.

I look forward to the upcoming campaign. With your financial help and support we can continue to move Kenosha forward with new ideas and progressive leadership. Please contact me with your ideas. I look forward to communicating with you soon.

Sincerely,

Michael Orth

Collecting Signatures

Today was the first day to collect signatures on nomination papers for the spring election. I had a great time visiting with neighbors, and special thanks to those who I caught at home and were able to sign. I headed home when the snow started to fall. Hopefully the conditions stay safe. I'll be back walking the neighborhood when the snow clears. I hope to meet many more of you in the near future.
